Demand Hunt Live | UK Demand & Shortage Signals

Real demand. Potential shortages. Emerging opportunities.

Demand Hunt searches across the UK for unusual signs of changing demand and supply. These are the strongest signals we’re seeing right now.

We track trending products in the UK, high-demand products, potential product shortages, emerging UK supply shortages and unusual demand for services. The aim is to identify what products and services are in demand in the UK, particularly where demand may be increasing faster than supply.

Unlike lists of popular products or general consumer trends, Demand Hunt looks for evidence of changing demand that could create a genuine opportunity. The aim is to help businesses spot demand early, so they can consider whether they are able to supply it, increase capacity or prepare before an opportunity becomes obvious to everyone else. A signal can be UK-wide, regional or highly local. If something significant is happening in just one town or city, it can still make Demand Hunt Live.

Current Demand Hunt Signals

Rating Demand Signal Type Scope Identified
🔥 NOW NeeDoh toys and 2026 Advent Calendar Products / Toys UK Wide September 2026
What we’re seeing: NeeDoh is showing unusually strong current buying pressure. Search interest has risen sharply, the official UK distributor reports repeatedly selling out, and multiple independent retailers have sold out of the 2026 NeeDoh Advent Calendar. Some individual NeeDoh lines are also unavailable at major retailers. The evidence points to genuine demand exceeding available supply for particular products.
Opportunity: Retailers and legitimate resellers who can source genuine NeeDoh stock may want to test small quantities of specific scarce products, particularly the 2026 Advent Calendar and individual lines showing repeated stock-outs. Counterfeit products are a significant risk, so stock should only be sourced through reliable channels. See Sell Products. Buyers looking for scarce lines can also see Buy Products.

🔥 NOW Student accommodation in Exeter Accommodation / Services Exeter September 2026
What we’re seeing: Exceptionally high student demand has exhausted available University of Exeter accommodation ahead of the new term. Private availability is also reported to be extremely limited and students are being advised not to travel to Exeter without having secured accommodation first.
Opportunity: Landlords, accommodation providers and businesses offering legitimate student housing or related services may find unusually concentrated local demand around Exeter. See Sell Services.
🔥 NOW AI skills, training and expertise Skills / Services UK Wide August 2026
What we’re seeing: Demand for AI-related skills remains unusually strong despite a challenging wider UK recruitment market. Specialist AI hiring has risen sharply, creating opportunities around AI expertise, implementation, training and associated business services.
Opportunity: Businesses and individuals able to provide practical AI implementation, training, consultancy or support may find growing demand from organisations lacking expertise internally. See Sell Services or Recruitment Opportunities.
🔎 TEST UK potato supply Products / Food UK Wide September 2026
What we’re seeing: The hot, dry growing season is putting pressure on potato supplies. UK growers are reporting lower yields, irrigation constraints and greater variation in potato sizes, while wholesale prices have risen. European production has also fallen substantially, reducing the supply available to fill gaps from overseas. Potatoes remain available, so this is a supply-pressure signal rather than a confirmed retail shortage.
Opportunity: Growers, wholesalers, importers and food-service suppliers may want to monitor availability, wholesale pricing and demand for alternative potato sizes as the season develops. Existing stocks and imports could still prevent significant consumer shortages, so validate actual local supply before committing money. See Sell Products. Consumers interested in growing their own potatoes can also see Buy Products.

🔎 TEST UK broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage supply Products / Food UK Wide September 2026
What we’re seeing: The hot, dry growing season has developed into more specific supply pressure for British brassicas. Growers and produce-market reporting point to substantially reduced yields for crops including broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage, with imported produce already being used to supplement some UK supply. We have not yet seen evidence of widespread supermarket stock-outs, so this remains a TEST rather than NOW.
Opportunity: Produce wholesalers, importers, growers and food-service suppliers may want to check actual availability and wholesale pricing for broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage against normal seasonal levels. Imports may successfully fill the gap, so validate current supply before committing to additional stock. See Sell Products.
🔎 TEST Childcare and nursery places in Hastings and St Leonards Services / Childcare Hastings / St Leonards September 2026
What we’re seeing: Multiple independent signals point to insufficient childcare capacity in parts of Hastings and St Leonards. East Sussex County Council identifies areas where future childcare capacity is insufficient, Hastings Borough Council has separately identified a shortage of day nursery places, and at least one local provider reports being oversubscribed and operating a waiting list.
Opportunity: Existing nurseries able to expand, appropriately registered childcare providers and qualified childminders may want to investigate where waiting lists are longest and which ages, days and hours are most undersupplied. Childcare is heavily regulated and staffing-intensive, so detailed local validation is essential before committing money. See Sell Services.
🔎 TEST Water-saving products and drought solutions Products / Services England September 2026
What we’re seeing: Drought conditions and widespread water-use restrictions remain in force across substantial parts of England. National reservoir storage remains unusually low, multiple reservoir groups are below half full and restrictions still affect millions of households. Demand for practical water-saving products and services therefore remains worth testing in affected areas.
Opportunity: Suppliers and installers may want to test demand for water butts, downpipe diverters, rainwater collection systems and other simple water-saving products or services in areas still affected by restrictions. See Sell Products or Sell Services.

🔎 TEST Temporary and flexible workers Skills / Jobs UK Wide August 2026
What we’re seeing: UK temporary hiring has strengthened, with temporary staff billings recently increasing at one of the fastest rates seen for more than three years. Demand has been particularly strong in parts of northern England, while blue-collar and IT/computing temporary vacancies have also shown growth.
Opportunity: Recruitment businesses, staffing providers and people considering work in sectors or regions with strengthening temporary demand may find opportunities as some employers continue to favour flexible staffing. See Recruitment Opportunities.
🔎 TEST Beauty advent calendars Products / Beauty UK Wide September 2026
What we’re seeing: Beauty advent calendars are launching well ahead of the traditional festive buying period, with major retailers opening sales, pre-orders and waiting lists. Some early sell-through is appearing, while several leading calendars have a strong history of selling out each year.
Opportunity: Retailers and resellers may want to monitor individual calendars for genuine scarcity and repeated sell-outs rather than assuming the whole category will become difficult to obtain. See Sell Products. Buyers trying to secure popular editions can see Buy Products.

🔎 TEST Household emergency preparedness supplies Products UK Wide September 2026
What we’re seeing: Government, councils and resilience organisations continue to promote household preparedness for emergencies such as power cuts, flooding, cyber incidents and infrastructure disruption. Suggested supplies include torches, power banks, radios, batteries, stored water and non-perishable food. There is still no evidence of widespread stock shortages or panic buying, so this remains a demand test rather than a shortage signal.
Opportunity: Retailers may want to test sensible preparedness ranges or simple emergency-essential bundles using normal stock rather than buying large quantities speculatively. See Sell Products. Consumers assembling their own supplies can also see Buy Products. The opportunity is preparedness demand, not panic buying.
👁 WATCH KPop Demon Hunters merchandise Products / Toys UK Wide August 2026
What we’re seeing: KPop Demon Hunters remains a very strong consumer trend and some individual licensed products continue to sell out. However, mainstream UK availability has broadened considerably, so the earlier general shortage signal has eased. We are now watching individual characters and product lines for renewed sell-outs as Christmas buying increases.
Opportunity: Retailers and resellers may want to monitor individual products for repeated stock-outs rather than assuming all KPop Demon Hunters merchandise remains scarce. See Sell Products. Buyers looking for particular products can also see Buy Products.

👁 WATCH RAM, memory chips and consumer electronics Products / Technology UK Wide September 2026
What we’re seeing: Global AI demand is putting substantial pressure on supplies of DRAM and other memory components. Prices have risen and the effects are increasingly feeding through into consumer electronics. We are watching for stronger UK shortages, longer lead times and evidence of unusual buying pressure.
Opportunity: Distributors, refurbishers and businesses holding reliable stock of memory, components or affected electronics could become more valuable if UK supply tightens further. See Sell Products. Buyers looking for affected products can also see Buy Products.
✕ NO General UK food shortage Products / Food UK Wide September 2026
What we’re seeing: There are genuine pressures affecting some crops and longer-term concerns about UK food resilience, but the evidence does not currently support claims that Britain is facing an imminent general food shortage. Product-specific supply problems and official preparedness advice should not be confused with widespread supermarket shortages.
What this means: Individual foods may experience genuine shortages or price pressure, and sensible household preparedness is reasonable, but we would not currently treat claims of an imminent general UK food shortage as a business opportunity or buying signal.

How We Identify What Is In Demand In The UK

Demand Hunt combines data-led detection with wider market research to identify early signs that demand and supply may be moving out of balance. Rather than simply listing popular or trending products, we look for unusual changes that may indicate something worth investigating.

Our research includes analysis of UK search-demand data and rapidly rising search activity, alongside retailer availability, reported shortages and supply pressures, price and stock changes, news coverage, seasonal and event-driven demand, regional activity and other evidence of changing buyer behaviour.

Potential signals are then investigated across multiple sources. We look for corroborating evidence that demand is genuinely increasing, supply is tightening, availability is changing or an unusual local, regional or national opportunity may be developing.

We monitor products, services, skills and locations, but a trend alone is not an opportunity. Each finding is assessed against the evidence available at the time and given a NOW, TEST, WATCH or NO rating.

How to read Demand Hunt Live:

NOW means we are seeing strong current evidence of demand or supply pressure.

TEST means there is enough evidence to justify investigating an opportunity.

WATCH is an earlier or developing signal worth monitoring.

NO means we investigated something that may sound convincing, but the available evidence does not currently support it.

What Happens To Older Demand Hunt Signals?

Demand Hunt Live is deliberately kept focused on what matters now. When a signal is no longer current, it is removed from the Live feed and significant past findings are retained in the Alerts Archive, creating a record of what we identified, when we identified it and how the signal developed.

Demand conditions can change quickly. Ratings are therefore reviewed as new evidence emerges. A WATCH can become NOW, while something that initially looks promising can ultimately become NO.

About Demand Hunt

Demand Hunt LiveDemand Hunt looks for unusual signs of changing supply and demand across the UK. We investigate products people are struggling to find, services people are actively seeking, skills in growing demand, local and regional shortages, seasonal changes and other emerging signals.

Demand Hunt does not assume that every apparent shortage or trend is real. Signals are assessed and rated according to the evidence available at the time. Some will strengthen, some will disappear and some will be rejected altogether.

Disclaimer: Demand Hunt highlights observed demand signals, potential shortages and emerging trends for information only. Findings can change and are not financial, investment or business advice. Always carry out your own research before acting.
